The Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI), a.k.a The World Canine Organization recognizes 339 breeds of dogs in 10 groups.  In 2013, the Kennel Club recognised 211 in the UK. With so many breeds of dog, and new crosses appearing all the time, anyone wanting to become an expert has their work cut out!
