Course 1 – AIM Qualifications Level 3 Award in Canine Care, Behaviour & Welfare
Unit 1: Canine Behaviour

- Carry out a primary survey (temperature, pulse, respiration).
- Understand and apply CPR, abdominal thrusts, and recovery positioning.
- Identify and treat wounds, bleeding, and fractures.
- Recognise and manage heatstroke, poisoning, bloat, convulsions, or water inhalation.
- Assemble a complete canine first-aid kit and know when to refer to a vet.
Course 3 – Licensing Guidance (Dog Home Boarding)
This course breaks down The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018 for home boarders. Through interactive flashcards and quizzes, you’ll learn:
- Scope and definitions of home boarding under the Regulations
- Licensing conditions and inspection expectations
- Record-keeping, supervision, and space requirements

Defra requires that the licence holder or designated manager be suitably qualified and that all staff:

- Take appropriate action to prevent or mitigate welfare issues.
To achieve the Higher Standard, one full-time staff member must hold a relevant Level 3 qualification.

Assessments
Achievement is by a portfolio of evidence demonstrating your understanding and application of welfare, behaviour, and compliance standards.
Level 3 Award in Canine Care, Behaviour & Welfare

Level 2 Award in Canine First Aid

Pass / Refer
Each assignment is graded Pass or Refer. Learners have two complimentary resubmissions; additional resits cost £25. Extensions may be approved where necessary.
Certification
Once all units are complete, samples of your work are independently verified. Certificates are issued by AIM Qualifications and iPET Network within 2–6 months. Interim confirmation is available if you need to show achievement for your licensing application.
